In 1923 Jatish Chandra Sen Gupta became Master of Science after graduating from Calcutta University. In 1928 he got degree of Doctor of Philosophy, Heidelberg University. He has done research in Plant Physiology and Ecology. Especially he was interested in Plant Ecology.
Career
Jatish Chandra Sen Gupta was a specialist in Plant Breeding. He was a professor of Botany at Presidency College in Calcutta and Head of Botany Department (1929-1959). In 1939-1950 he worked as a principal, in 1951-1955 - as Chief Botanist at Presidency College in Calcutta. Since 1962 he was Administrator in the Board of the Secondary School.
Membership
Fellow of the National Institute of Sciences of India, Asiatic Society, Indian Botanical Society. Member of the Patonical Society of Bengal (Past-President), Indian Society of Plant Physiology(Past-President), Indian Society of Plant Physiology (Past-President), Indian Science Congress Association (President, Botany Section) and other organizations.
