CHEYSSON, Jean-Jacques Emile was born in 1836 in France.
Engineer-economist in the Ecole des Mines tradition laid down by Dupuit, whose greatest work is prob-
ably his published lecture of 1887, Statistique géométrique. This is a highly developed series of analytical arguments, touching on a wide range of topics. It overflows with original and striking ideas on statistical demand, revenue and cost curves, location and transporation rates, wages, profit maximisation, market supply areas, etc.
