Jerome received an Associate of Arts from Fullerton College in 1968. He received from the University of Montana, Missoula, a B.A. in 1970 and a Master of Arts in1976. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Washington in 1988.
Gold served for the U.S. Army from 1963 until 1966, and from 1981 until 1982. He served ln Vietnam, earned Combat Infantryman’s Badge and Senior Parachutists Badge, achieved the rank of Major. After the military service, Gold worked as a publisher at Black Heron Press, Seattle, since 1984. He worked then as Juvenile rehabilitation counselor at a prison for children in the Pacific Northwest, Olympia, Washington, since 1991.
Jerome is a member of Amnesty International.
Gold married Clotilde Rita Litchfield on August 20, 1965, but they divorced in April 1978. Gold has 3 children: Jack Michael, David Charles, Leah Molina Antonia.
