Lip Sync Battle is already a huge viral sensation. Now Spike is taking it to the next level with its very own show, hosted by LL Cool J and with colorful commentary by social media maven, Chrissy Teigen.
Jimmy Fallon is an American comedian, actor, television host, writer, and producer. He is known for his exuberant presence on the sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live and as host of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show.
Background
Ethnicity:
Jimmy's father is of half Irish and half German descent, while Jimmy's mother is of three quarters Irish and one quarter Norwegian ancestry. Jimmy's paternal grandmother, Luise Schalla, was born in Osterholz-Scharmbeck, Germany, while one of Jimmy's maternal great-grandfathers, Hans Hovelsen, was from Fredrikstad, Norway.
Jimmy Fallon was born on September 19, 1974, in New York City, New York, the United States, to James W. Fallon and Gloria Fallon.
Education
Jimmy Fallon attended Saugerties High School. He was a Saturday Night Live enthusiast since childhood, and the caption for his photo in his 8th-grade yearbook read: "Most likely to replace David Letterman." Fallon graduated in 1992.
After high school, Fallon enrolled at the College of Saint Rose, Albany, to study Computer Science. While still in college, he would perform at open mic nights Bananas in Poughkeepsie, New York. With just a semester left, he dropped out of college to pursue his comedy career full time.
Fallon went back to school and got a communications degree in 2009. He delivered the graduation address that year, and the college also granted him an honorary degree.
In the late 1990s, Fallon moved back to New York and fulfilled a lifelong dream with the chance to audition for his favorite show, Saturday Night Live. Meeting with co-creator and producer Lorne Michaels, Fallon won him over with his impression of Adam Sandler. He joined the show's cast for the 1998-1999 season, which also featured Will Ferrell, Tracy Morgan, and Molly Shannon.
In September 2000, Fallon became SNL's Weekend Update anchor alongside head writer/co-star Tina Fey and continued on in that role until Spring 2004, when he bid goodbye to the show in order to concentrate on his movie career. After two years, he ventured into films with Almost Famous as Dennis Hope. The same year, he also released the comedy album, The Bathroom Wall, which was rated as a great parody album and was even nominated for prestigious awards.
He teamed up with Queen Latifah for the 2004 crime comedy Taxi, which proved to be a commercial and critical dud, and joined Drew Barrymore for the 2005 baseball-themed romantic comedy Fever Pitch. In 2006, Fallon showed a more dramatic side in Factory Girl. The film starred Guy Pearce as artist Andy Warhol and Sienna Miller as his muse, Edie Sedgwick. Fallon played promoter Chuck Wein.
In March 2009 Fallon replaced talk show host Conan O’Brien on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Late Night with Jimmy Fallon featured comedy sketches, impersonations, musical performances (including guitar solos by Fallon), celebrity guests, and one-on-one upbeat interviews. Fallon’s enthusiasm and energy were infectious. He persuaded guests to participate in a number of offbeat sketches; notably, Barack Obama appeared with him in Slow Jam the News, a segment in which they recited headlines over a sexy funk groove.
In April 2013, it was announced that Fallon would become the new host of The Tonight Show, following the expiration of Jay Leno's contract, with the show moving its production from Los Angeles to New York. In February 2014, Jimmy Fallon made his debut on the Tonight Show on NBC and the show attracted around 11.3 million viewers.
At Fallon’s request, The Tonight Show was moved from Burbank, California (where former host Johnny Carson had relocated it in 1972), and returned to the same studio that Carson had previously used in Rockefeller Center, New York City. In addition, his longtime executive producer, Lorne Michaels, and his house band, the hip-hop group the Roots, joined The Tonight Show.
Besides fulfilling his hosting duties, Fallon established a strong presence on social media. He had millions of followers on Twitter, and some of the videos that he created with celebrities went viral on YouTube. Additionally, the entertainer has published several books, including I Hate This Place: The Pessimist's Guide to Life (1999), co-written with his mother. He's also written several children's books including, Your Baby's First Word Will Be Dada (2015), Everything Is Mama (2017) and This Is Baby (2019).
In March 2020, after the coronavirus outbreak shut down production on The Tonight Show, Fallon made headlines for hosting the "at home" versions of his show, with help from his family.

Religion
Jimmy Fallon is a Roman Catholic. Fallon grew up in a religious household. Before marrying his father, Fallon’s mother had been a Catholic nun. Fallon himself considered joining the priesthood, before deciding to commit himself fully to comedy. He attended mass with his very religious grandfather, every week, as early as 6:45 in the morning. It was here that he served as an altar boy. He says he loved everything about the church. He loved the idea of being a priest, the wonderful scent of incense, the warm feeling you get when you leave the church, and the wonderful way a priest can make people feel so good after speaking with him.
Politics
Jimmy Fallon is a registered Democrat and a supporter of Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Leading up to the 2016 presidential election, Fallon faced criticism for having controversial candidate Donald Trump on his show and not pressing him harder on political issues.
Views
Jimmy Fallon is raising money for some very important charities. Jimmy highlighted different charities including No Kid Hungry, which is providing critical assistance to schools and community groups across the country to help feed the 22 million children who are losing access to the free school meals they rely on as the coronavirus closes schools nationwide; National Domestic Workers Alliance, which works for respect, recognition, and inclusion in labor protections for domestic workers, and many others.
Quotations:
"Time slot doesn't matter to me. If people want to see you, they'll find you."
"The one thing you shouldn't do is try to tell a cab-driver how to get somewhere."
"Be silly. You're allowed to be silly. There's nothing wrong with it."
"Everyone looks so much better when they smile."
Personality
Fallon displayed a talent for comedy early on, which his mother encouraged. She would tell guests that, given an hour, he could impersonate anyone, and would have him perform for visitors. Most agreed he was pretty accurate. On Saturday Night Live, he became known for his variety of impersonations, which ranged from Enrique Iglesias to Robert DeNiro to Jerry Seinfeld.
When he took over The Tonight Show, Fallon made sure to bring along his cast and crew from Late Night, including The Roots and his announcer and sidekick, Steve Higgins.
Fallon’s charm, cheerfulness, and improvisational talents made him a popular host, and not just on late-night tv. He has hosted a bunch of award shows, including the MTV Video Music Awards, the MTV Movie Awards, and the Emmys.
Fallon has a golden retriever who sometimes appeared with him on Late Night. The dog’s name is Gary Frick.
