Background

Gerber Johann Gustav was born on October 5, 1734, Pavlovsk, Voronezh, Russian Federation.

Career

In the Russian service since 1710. In 1727, the commissioner for the delimitation of borders with Turkey. In 1728 Johann Gerber compiled a map of the lands adjacent to the Caspian Sea (published in 1736). In 1729 he wrote a note to the thesis of G. Bayer. In 1734 he accompanied the siege artillery to capture Azov, which under the command of Gerber was taken to Pavlovsk.
