In 1978 Boris Firsov graduated from the history department of Pushkin Leningrad State University.
After graduation, Boris Firsov worked in Michurinsk as a researcher at the Regional Museum of local lore, as well as in the Museum of the USSR Artist Gerasimov.
Since December 1988 Boris Firsov had worked as an employee of the Department of the local history of the Voronezh Regional Scientific Library named after Nikitin. Also, he was an editor-compiler of the annual "calendar of memorable dates of the Voronezh region", and one of the editor-compilers of the "Voronezh regional history Bulletin", published by the Voronezh Regional Scientific Library named after Nikitin since 2001.
Boris Firsov is a regular author of the historical supplement to the newspapers "Voronezh courier" and "Voronezh Telegraph", and "the Russian provincial magazine-Voronezh", one of the authors of the reference publication "Voronezh necropolis".
