Wilson, John P. was born on July 3, 1844 in on farm, Whiteside Company, Illinois, United States. Son of Thomas and Margaret (Laughlin) Wilson.

Education

Bachelor of Arts, Knox College, Illinois, 1865 (Doctor of Laws, 1912). Taught school and studied law, 1865-1867.

Career

J. D. McIlvaine, of Chicago, April 25, 1871. Admitted to Illinois bar, 1867. Senior member Wilson, Moore & McIlvaine.

Drafted the law creating the Sanitary District of Chicago, and successfully carried to the Supreme Court the litigation in which the validity of the law was established. Was general counsel World’s Columbia Exposition and prepared the consil. amendment and legislation relating thereto passed at the General Assembly, 1890. Representative of many leading corporations and business interests.
