Began practice with Brown & Hay, Springfield, 1910. Member firm Brown, Hay & Creighton, 1912-1921. With War Trade Board, January 1, 1918-June 1919.

Specialized in investigations of enemy controlled chemical companies in the United States and later chief of investigations War Trade Intelligence.

Representative of War Trade Board on advisory sales committee of alien property custodian. Appointed special assistant to attorney general of the United States, June 1919, in charge Alien Enemy Division and of bureau of Investigation.

Directed parolment and repatriation of interned alien enemies. Reorganized bureau of Investigation, 1920-1921.

Resigned from Department of Justice, 1921.

With trust department National City Bank of New York, since 1921, Vice-President City Bank Farmers Trust Company, since 1930. Trustee Legal Research Foundation of University of Michigan.
