Dzvonchik, Joseph was born on January 4, 1888 in Losia, Province of Galicia (formerly Austria, later Poland). Son of Onisim and Eva (Detch) Dzvonchik.

Education

Educated public school and high school, Mayfield, Pennsylvania. Student Zitomir (Russia) Theological Seminary, 1903-1905, Russian Orthodox Seminary, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 1906-1911. Special law course, Youngstown (O.) Law School, 1 year.

Special social science course, Western Reserve University, 1 year.

Career

Ordained priest of Russian Orthodox Church of America, 1911. Became dean of Midwestern District, 1919. Central Pennsylvania District, 1921.

Elevated to rank of archpriest, 1925. Elected member Metropolitan Council at All American Conference, 1937. Resigned as secretary, 1946, re-elected member (same) at Cleveland (O.) Sobor, 1946. nat. spiritual adviser Federated Russian Orthodox Clubs of America since 1941.

National executive secretary Russian Orthodox Church of North America since 1939. Delegate from North America to All Russian Church Conference (Sobor), Moscow, 1945. President Racial Council, Stamford, Connecticut, 1935-1937.

President Russian Orthodox Clergy Association to 1941, Russian Orthodox Clergy Alumni Association, 1935-1945.
