Background
Dolice, Joseph Leo was born on October 12, 1941 in Newark. Son of the artist Leon Louis Dolice(1892-1960) and concert pianist Mary Sabina (Lewandowski) Dolice. From an early age, he was exposed to his father's art, which was almost exclusively of New York Street scenes from the 1920s through the 1960s. His father also owned and operated an art gallery and studio in their home on Third Avenue and 32nd street in Manhattan, where he sold his own etchings, paintings and pastels of the city, and the work of other artists.
