He was a disciple of Kampo Araki and later adopted by him. Taught at the Tokyo Higher Normal School.
His works were accepted for more than ten annual exhibitions of the Education Ministry. He became later a member of its hanging committee. Travelled in India in 1931 and became a member ol the Arts Bureau.Was an adviser to the Japan Fine Arts Society and president of the Dokuga Kai.
