Takayoshi Yoshioka was born on June 20, 1909 in Nishihama, Shimane, Japan.
Came into prominence when he placed third in the 100-meter and second in the 200-meter sprints in the Far East Games, Shanghai (1927). The following year he won both events in the same sense of games. During the 9th Olympic Games in Berlin he created a new Japan record for the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.2 seconds (1932). Established a Far Eastern record for the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.3 seconds in the games between Japan, the Philippines and Korea (1935). He was head of Hiroshima Prefecture's Physical Education Department.
