Morton received an Associate of Arts degree from New Mexico Military Institute in 1981. Three years later he earned his Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in 1993 from Southwest Texas State University.
Career
Morton began his career as a research assistant at Southwest Texas State University in 1990. Two years later he took a position of a research specialist at Trinity University, where he worked until 1995.
