Remember When? A History African Americans in Lubbock, Tears adds to a growing appreciation of the contributions of African Americans and an understanding of their history. Written by members of the black community, this account of the African American heritage in Lubbock features pioneers, early settlers, business people, educators, and persons in the medical and legal professions who worked for advances on many fronts. The origins and efforts of churches that provided religious support and community leadership are also described. The histories of fraternal and social groups are included along with cultural activities and entertainment that contributed to the social life of African Americans and other groups in the city.
