Kazutoshi Ueda was born on February 11, 1867 Aichi, Japan.
Kazutoshi Ueda graduated from the Literature Department of Tokyo University. Later studied in Germany and France.
Kazutoshi Ueda served successively as a director of Specialized Educational Affairs Bureau, later he worked as a professor at Tokyo University and became the dean of Literature Department at the same university.
He held additional post of president of Jingii Kogakukan College. After resigning (1932) he became a member of House of Peers, emeritus professor of Tokyo University and a member of Imperial Academy.
