Keld Laursen was born on May 4, 1967 in Silkeborg, Denmark, to Peder Laursen, a farmer, and Helga Laursen.
In 1992, Keld received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Âlborg, a Master of Arts in 1995, and a Ph.D. in 1998. In 1994, he received a Master of Science from the University of Sussex.
In 1998, Keld worked at the Department of Innovation and Organizational Economics at the Copenhagen Business School. Later, he became an associate professor of economics and then a professor.
He has been elected to serve on the chair track of the Academy of Management's Technology Innovation Management (TIM) Division for 2013-2018. For 2017/2018, Keld serves as the Past Chair of the Division. He also established DRUIDs webpage in 1996 and since 2001, he has been serving on DRUID's Executive Committee.
Keld is also an editor of Research Policy. He is a co-editor of Research Policy and serves on the editorial boards of Strategic Management Journal and Industrial and Corporate Change. He also serves currently on the CBS Academic Council.
Keld Laursen is most commonly known as a professor of the Economics and Management of Innovation at Copenhagen Business School and DNV-GL Professor II at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
His research has been published in outlets such as Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Economic Geography and Research Policy.

2000Keld's current research focuses on open and distributed innovation processes and on organizational practices and innovation outcomes.
Keld is a former member of the Danish Research Council for Independent Research | Social Sciences and serves presently as a panel member at the European Research Council (ERC) for Social sciences and Humanities (SH1). Laursen is a member of the Executive Board of the Danish Research Unit for Industrial Dynamics (DRUID).
Keld is married to Larissa Rabbiosi.
