He graduated from Tokyo Higher Commercial School in 1909.
He entered Sumitomo Bank and served as acting manager of its New York Branch, chief of Gaikokuka (Foreign Countries' Section) and manager of the head office and then managing director (until 1943). Became supervisor of the head office (1943). Resigned Sumitomo Bank and assumed his present post in 1947. Attended annual conference of Pacific Problems Research Society and toured U.S.A. in 1936.
