Kinko Takeda was born 1861 Tokyo, Japan.
Kinko Takeda graduated from Tokyo Girls Normal School in 1878. In 1886 she was sent to the United States for further study, thereby winning for herself the distinction of being the first Japanese woman to study abroad.
Upon her return from the USA she was appointed a professor at the Women's Higher Normal School at Tokyo and devoted all her life to improving educational facilities in Japan.
