He graduated from Osaka Commercial School (1894).
Kintaro Sugiyama entered Beikoku Boeki Kaisha (American Trading Company) (1894) and became manager of Export Department of its Yokohama Branch (1913). Appointed senior managing director of the newly founded Chiigai Boeki Kaisha (Chugai Trading Company) (1917).
He became president (1924) and then chairman of Honen Oil Manufacturing Company. Held additional posts of president of Yoky Hiryo Haikyu Kaisha (Organic Fertilizer Distribution Company) and Nihon Daizu Tosci Kaisha (Nihon Soybean Control Company), permanent director of Nikkeiren (Fejeration of Japan Employes Associations) and Keidanren (Federation of Economic Organizations), director of Sugiyama Sangyo Kagaku Kenkyiijo (Sugoyama Industrial Chemistry Research Institute) and official of many other industrial companies and associations.
