Kiyoshi Ikeda

Background

Kiyoshi was born on April 5, 1928, in Ewa, Hawaii, United States.

Education

Kiyoshi studied at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and received a Bachelor of Arts in 1950 and a Master of Arts in 1955. He also finished Northwestern University with his Ph.D. in 1959.

Career

Kiyoshi started to work at Oberlin College, Oberlin as a faculty member during 1958-67, he became a professor of sociology from 1967.

In 1965 he wrote his first work, Equilibrium Models and Social Mobility. He also was a co-author of An Analysis of the Impact of Immigration on State Services.

Later, he worked at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu as a professor of sociology, also served as head of the department, interim vice president for academic affairs, and chairperson of Commission on Diversity.

Achievements

• Kiyoshi Ikeda is an American writer best known for his book Equilibrium Models and Social Mobility and An Analysis of the Impact of Immigration on State Services. Besides, he was Fellow of Social Security Administration and Russell Sage Foundation.
