Ramdas Lamb was born on the 2nd of August, 1945 in the United States, the son of L. D. and Tomasina Maria Lamb.
Ramdas Lamb received a Bachelor of Arts degree with high honors in 1980 and a Master of Arts degree in Comparative Religion in 1986 from the University of Hawaii, Manoa. He also studied at the University of California in Santa Barbara, where he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1991.
Ramdas Lamb began his academic career at the University of Hawaii as an Associate Professor of Religion from 1989 to 1991. Presently, he is a Professor of Religion there. Ramdas teaches introductory religion courses as well as courses dealing with contemporary religion and society, fieldwork, and mysticism. The focus of his current research is on monastic traditions and religion among the low castes in central and northern India.
Lamb wrote "Rapt in the Name" and "Annual Editions: World Religions 03/04" that were published in 2002. He is also a contributor of articles about "devotional and monastic Hinduism" to journals and books.

2002Ramdas Lamb was a Hindu sadhu (monk) in north India from 1969 until 1978.
Ramdas Lamb tries to use his writings to inspire a more realistic and empathetic view of the people, beliefs, and practices of India.
Lamb does philanthropic work through the non-profit Sahayog Foundation, which he founded in Chattisgarh, India. Dr. Lamb and his Foundation work for the uplift of the former Untouchables, provides education for impoverished children.
Ramdas is married to Susan Lamb.
