(Epidemiology of Sports Injury is a comprehensive compilat...)
Epidemiology of Sports Injury is a comprehensive compilation and critical analysis of injury data from a wide range of sports. Suggestions for injury prevention and directions for future research are also provided in the sport-specific chapters. Two overview chapters giving a broader perspective on sports injuries cover injury prevention measures that are applicable across sports; and guidelines for evaluating future research in epidemiology of sports injuries.

(Exercise dependence or addiction has been described as a ...)
Exercise dependence or addiction has been described as a 'positive addiction', but it can have links with damaging dysfunctional and excessive behaviors, including eating disorders. Clinical and sports psychologists now acknowledge the condition and report that it can be found in recreational exercisers and competitive athletes. This is the first text to provide a comprehensive guide to exercise dependence. The text contains case studies and reviews research into exercise dependence in both 'exercise' and 'sports' contexts. The authors examine the condition in the widest sense, exploring different types of exercise dependence, risk factors associated with the condition, the experiences and motivational characteristics of sufferers, links with eating disorders, and a number of approaches to counseling. This text will be of significant interest to psychologists working in sport, health, and clinical practice, as well as to athletes and sports coaches, particularly those involved in endurance sports associated with higher incidences of exercise dependence.

Koenraad Jan Lindner was born on June 27, 1941, in The Hague, Netherlands.
Koenraad Lindner studied at the Academy of Physical Education (Academie voor Lichamelijke Opvoeding) in The Hague, Netherlands, where he received a Certificate of Education. Then he attended the University of Toledo where he received a Master of Education and a Doctor of Philosophy degrees.
Koenraad Lindner began his career in 1973 as an assistant professor at the College at Brockport. Then he taught and conducted research at the University of Manitoba, Canada for 18 years before moving to Hong Kong in 1992. He retired in 2001 from the post of the Department Head of the Physical Education and Sports Science Unit, now the Institute of Human Performance of the University of Hong Kong. His research areas included aspects of motor learning and control, epidemiology of sports injuries, sports participation and withdrawal, and the motivational aspects of physical activity participation. His publication record comprises some 85 books, book chapters and articles.
Lindner's most known book is Epidemiology of Sports Injuries (1996). Epidemiology of Sports Injuries provides the first comprehensive compilation and critical analysis of injury data over a wide range of sports. For each of 24 activities, the book details injury incidence, injury characteristics, injury severity, and injury risk factors. Each sport-specific chapter also provides suggestions for injury prevention and proposes directions for future research. Epidemiology of Sports Injuries was developed by an outstanding international team of epidemiologists, physicians, and sports scientists who organized and interpreted data using one common methodology. This approach, plus the book's standardized chapter headings, allows readers to easily compare injury information across sports.
In Exercise Dependence, co-written with John Kerr and Michelle Blaydon in 2007, the authors provide an in-depth guide to exercise dependency syndromes. They examine the condition in the widest possible sense, explore different types of exercise dependence and offer strategies for managing and treating them.
