Kojima Norinaga was born in Bizen Province (Okayama Prefecture) in Japan.

Both Kojima Norinaga and his son Kojima Takanori led the army which defeated the Shogun at Hoki (Tottori Prefecture) (1333). Later, he smashed armies of Takauji Ashikaga at Harima and Tamba, and then while attempting to cut off the advance on to Kyoto of Takauji's army, he was defeated and committed suicide out of shame.
