Konstantin ORLOV

1903 defended doctor’s thesis on eye lesions in ergot and ergot-drug poisoning. 1905 joined underground Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party organisation in Kazan’. 1907 imprisoned for revol activities, after which he went first to Pyatigorsk then to Warsaw. From 1912 professor, Chair of Eye Diseases, Warsaw University. Founder, Warsaw Ophthalmological Social. 1915 moved with evacuated University to Rostov-on-Don, where he founded an eye clinic which he directed until his death and which now bears his name. From 1922 founder and life-chairman, Don Ophthalmological Social. Honorary member, Odessa, Saratov, Tomsk, Uzbek, Rostov and Gorky Ophthalmological Social. 1936 co-edited text of Soviet Constitution at Extraordinary 8th All-Union Congress of Soviets. Wrote over 60 works.
