Koryusai Isoda was born in 1770. Original personal name: Masakatsu.

Education

Koryusai Isoda was disciple of Shigenaga Nishimura.

Career

Koryusai Isoda was a retainer of the Tsuchiya family. Later became a friend of Harunobu Suzuki and was influenced by his style, but was more realistic than him in his paintings. After the death of Harunobu (1770) took top position as the leading ukiyoe painter of that time. He was appointed Hokkyo.
