Lavrentiy Mikhailovich participated in the Azov campaigns of the years 1695-1696 and the battle of Narva (1700). He was sent to the Alexander Nevsky Monastery, then he served as hieromonk in the navy.
In 1726, Lavrentiy Mikhailovich was the assessor of the Synod. Bishop of Voronezh and Eletsk (1727-1730). He attempted to develop spiritual education in the diocese. In 1730, for political reasons, he did not manage to organize a solemn prayer service in honour of the accession of Empress Anna Ioanovna in the churches of the diocese on time, which caused E.I. Pashkov's denunciation.
In 1730, Lavrentiy Mikhailovich was sent as a bishop to Astrakhan, after which he was arrested in Tula and taken under guard to Moscow. In October 1730, by the decision of the Synod, he was deprived of dignity and the monastic rank and exiled to the Holy Monastery on the island of Kiy in the White Sea. In 1741, he was released on his own request.
As a simple monk, Lavrentiy Mikhailovich lived in the Miracle Monastery. In 1742, Lavrentiy was granted the hierarchical rank again, but he refused the offer of the diocese and was dismissed and sent to the Moscow Znamensky Monastery.
