Studied at Ennis College, and Dublin University. Exhibitioner, and Honourman, Trinity College Dublin, where he took the degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (1878), and Doctor of Laws (1896). Doctor of Laws.
Entered Indian Civil Service 1878, and has since held, among others, the following appointments: Assistant Resident, Mysore (1887). First Assistant to the A.G.G., Central India (1888). Deputy Coinr. Derail Ismail Khan (1890-1895).
