Graduated from the United States Naval Academy, 1890.

Career

Promoted ensign, July 1, 1892, and advanced through grades to commander, March 4, 1911. Captain, August 29, 1916. Rear admiral, June 8, 1923.

Vice admiral, May 21, 1929. Returned to rank of rear admiral, May 21, 1930.
