Magda Vasillov earned a Bachelor of Arts from Wellesley College, Wellesley, Massachusetts, and a Master of Arts from New York University in New York City.
Since 1970 Magda Vasillov has taught photography and history of art at Eugenio María de Hostos Community College of The City University of New York. Previously she was assistant to the president of Magnum Photos, Inc. (1968-1970).
In 1980 Magda Vasillov was compiling the photographic illustrations to Charles Darwin's Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals, including the unknown works of Rejlander and other photographers which Darwin collected. Her extensive collection of vintage photographs, inherited from her late husband, includes the work of George Platt Lynes and of photographers who participated in Vogue Studios during the late 1940s and early 1950s.
