Background

Slater was born on August 29, 1917 in Springfield, Massachusetts, United States; the son of Ely and Sarah Deenah (Hurwitz) Slotnick.

Education

Slater received a Bachelor of Arts degree from American International College in 1939.

Career

Slater began his career as a president of Springfield Markets in 1939. Seven years later he took a position of a vice president and treasurer at Bridgeport Broadcasting Company. From 1959 Manning was a president and chairman of the board at Hercules Broadcasting Company. Also he was a president of Slater Investment Company.

Membership

Slater was a member of the National Association of Broadcasters, Radio Advertising Bureau, Sacramento Chamber of Commerce and B'nai B'rith International.

On July 1, 1977 Manning Slater married Anita Norman. They have two children.
