2001Clary writes stories for children to help them enjoy learning through the story. During her years as a public school teacher, she often wrote stories to be used in the classroom, especially when she could not find a story about the subject she needed.
Since Clary was a child she has loved books. At a very young age, she began writing poems—they would come as an inspiration. It was a childhood dream someday to own books and to write a children’s book. While teaching children’s literature at the Citadel in 1987, Clary began to make that dream come true.
Clary is a member of the International Reading Association, the National Association of Storytellers, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, the Backporch Storytellers of Charleston and the Delta Kappa Gamma.
