Maria Nikolaevna made her first appearance on stage in Tula (1903). She worked in the theatres of Vyatka, Yelts, Vologda, Pskov, Kursk, Sevastopol, Gorki and other cities. In 1926-1927 was an actress of the Voronezh drama theatre, where she acted in such plays as: "Evgraf - iskatel’ priklucheniy" ("Evgraf, Seeker of Adventures") by Alekesey Mikhailovich Fayko, "Razlom" ("Breakout") by Boris Andreevich Lavrenev, "Tot, kto poluchaet poschechini ("He who gets slaps in the face") by Leonid Nikolaevich Andreev and others.
