Marvelous Marvin Hagler was the undisputed Middleweight Boxing Champion of the World from 1980 to 1987. His reign at the top catapulted him to international stardom. His success was earned because of hard work, an incredible work ethic, and a dedication to the sport like no other. After nearly 25 years of being out of of the spotlight, the Marvelous one returns with [erhaps his greatest feat yet, a childrens book. Marvin teamed up with his friend, Author Dustin Warburton, and the two spent several years developing a story that would not only bring a smile to a childs face, but convey an important lesson to the world. In this story we have Mario the race pigeon. He wasn't just any race pigeon, he was the fastest in the sky. Sure Mario was young and fast, but he was also cocky, wreckless, and didnt know what it was to be part of a team. "No matter how fast you are, theres always someone out there faster. Being part of a team is what counts, and thats the key to success." These words come from his mentor, Doc who like Mario was the fastest at one time. Mario must learn what it takes to be part of a team, all the while overcoming his biggest obstacle to date. Lost wings is a story for children of all ages.

Marvelous Marvin Hagler was an undisputed middleweight champion during the 80's. He is considered to be one of the greatest middleweight boxers in history. Some of his boxing fights, most notably against Thomas Hearns and Sugar Ray Leonard, are boxing classics, which earned recognition and awards.
Background
Marvin Nathaniel Hagler was born in May 23,1954 in Newark, New jersey U.S to Robert Sims and Ida Mae Hagler as a first born in a family of 6 siblings.Robert Sims left the family when Marvin was young ,and he was raised by his mother. Marvin had a passion for fighting as he said in an interview, “I always knew I wanted to box”, I used to see posters with Floyd Patterson, newspapers stories about Emile Griffith, stuff like that .I wanted to be somebody ,not some hoodlum, but the right kind of somebody’’. They moved to Brockton, Massachutes in 1967, following widespread racial riots in July 12thto 17th 1967 that saw 26 people die and property worth $11 million in property destroyed including Marvin’s family tenement.Coince dentally Brockton was a home town of a famous fighter Rocky Marciano.
Marvin dropped out of school at 9th grade and did small errands at construction sitesand met the brothers Goody Petronelli and Pat Petronelli at a gym who later became his coaches and managers during his entire fighting career.
He won 57 amateur fights before taking the 165-pound division title at the 1973Amateur Athletic Union nationals defeating Atlanta’s Terry Dobbs. Marvin was voted an outstanding boxer and that marked a start to his profession.
Education
Marvin schooled to 9th grade before dropping out, to work at construction sites to help his mother raise funds to sustain themselves. He later through his tutors Pat and Gody learnt the basics and boxing skills that saw him rise to championship in the 80s.Marvin kick started his career when he met with the brothers in a gym, who became his trainers and coaches. Despite being a highly ranked fighter he found it difficult to find high profile opponents willing to face him earlier in his career. He had to go seeking these fights in the home towns of his ‘’high profile’’ opponents.
Career
Willie Monroe offered him a fight on a two week notice, Willie was a trainee of Joe Frazier. He lost this fight but Willie gave him a rematch and Hagler knocked him down in 12 rounds and in a third fight knocked him in two rounds.
After this fight Boston promoter Rip Valenti took a particular interest in Hagler and started making arrangements for him to face top ranked opponents.
Broke out to limelight in 1976 after he had three fights two of which he lost in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania recorded as his first losses in his fighting career.
After, these losses he felt reenergized that he fought so aggressively.
He won 20 more fights before his 1979 title bout with Vito Antuafermo which ended in draw that many felt was unjustified.
Marvin later won himself the world’s middle weight crown on September 27, 1980, in a third round against Alan Minter, over the next seven years Hagler defended his title successfully twelve times.
Biggest fight and what was to be his last happened in April, 1987 when Sugar Ray Leonard came out to have a shot at the unbeatable middle weight champ. Marvin had had 37 –fight unbeaten streak but the fight with Leonard was a tough one as it was difficult for him to put him down.
Leonard was handed that crown in what Marvin described as unfair. Marvin tried to have a rematch but Leonard would not have it and when it was clear that Leonard had really retired Marvin retired in1989 after seeking a rematch for 1 and half years, and relocated to Italy after a divorce with his wife Bertha.
He started his acting career with commercials like Diet cake and Pizza hut and was later featured in two action adventure films, Indio1 and Indio 2, he played Sergeant Iron, a marines officer part of bad guys later allied to indigenous tribes in Brazil to save Amazon forests. InIndio 2,Hagler was dubbed by Mario Cordova in Potenza Virtual(virtual weapon).Marvin has also appeared ringside as a boxing commentator, sport analyst he still fills the pull in his heart and he admitted to The Boston Globe, “I don’t go back to gyms .I don’t want to smell that smell and get that feeling again. I was born a fighter, I believe .Boxing was always my love, but that love is over. I moved on with my life …’’
Marvin had a fixed working schedule, hiding away at Cape Cod and exercising through beach runs, carrying heavy bags and sparring partners alike.
In 1972 Olympics he fought with Sugar Ray Seales and won first time, drew second time, knocked out seales in a third fight.
November of 1979 he fought Vito Antuofermo at Caesars palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. After fifteen rounds most knew that Hagler had won only for referee Mills Laneto announce a draw. Vito then retained his title which he later lost to Alan Minter and opportunity to own the title emerged. Marvinwent to Wembley to face Minter.People tensed and even tensed further when Minter was quoted saying, “no black is going to take my title’’ a statement he quickly said meant that, ‘that black man’. The fight was fierce I bet after Minters remark and the referee had to put off the match in a third round, Hagler prouncing himself the Middleton champion .This was not taken lightly by Minter’s fans and a riot broke out and Hagler and his trainers were rushed to locker rooms by the police amidst stone throws.
Hagler later defeated both the future and former world champions Fulgencio Obelmejias of Venezuela and Antuofermo. Both fights happened in Boston Garden near Haglers home town.
Mustafa Hamsho a Syrian based boxer was Haglers next challenge and proved to be a tough skin but defeated in 11 rounds. Michigan based fighter William Lee lasted only a round and a rematch in Obelmejias, Italy lasted five rounds .For the British champion, it lasted six rounds and finally came Wilford Scypion, who lasted for four rounds.
