征武 和田
Masatake Wada was born in 1360 in Izumi, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. He belonged to the family of Masashige Kusunoki.
When Yoshiakira Ashikaga invaded Kawachi, Masatake Wada and Masanori Kusunoki, the younger brother of Masatsura, rushed to defend Akasaka Castle. Realizing that the odds were against them, Masanori advised a retreat to Mount Kongo, but Masatake thought otherwise and collecting a band of 300 soldiers made a gallant attempt at dead of night to take the enemy by surprise but failed. Then he reluctantly withdrew to Mount Kongo in 1359.
Later Masatake Wada defeated Takahide Sasaki in Settsu Province and entered Kyoto in 1361. After Masanori Kusunoki changed over to the Ashikaga side, he fought him at the helm of an army raised from his clan in 1367. After Emperor Chökei moved to Yoshino avoid trouble, Masatake together with Takatoshi Shijo attacked Ujiharu Hosokawa, but they were beaten. Takatoshi was killed in action and though Masatake escaped nothing further was heard of him.
