Mcgraw, Max was born on February 1, 1883 in Clear Lake, Iowa, United States. Son of Watson Jay and Bertha E. (Rounds) Mcgraw.

Education high school and business college, Sioux City, Iowa, and correspondent school.

Career

Began as electrical contractor, Sioux City, 1900, established McGraw Electric Company, added wholesale electrical supplies, 1903, telephone manufacturing, 1907, later opened brs. in Omaha and St. Louis. Sold out wholesale business to Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company, 1926. Established electric light plant, 1912, in South Dakota which increased to system now supplying over 250 towns, operating through Central Electric & Gas Company (nome now Central Power & Gas Company), president, now Chairman of the Board.

President McGraw-Edison Company until 1960, chairman of the executive committee, since 1960. Chairman Central Telephone Сompany, affiliated with Central Elec. & Gas Company; director Bell & Howell Company.
