Mayank Bawa won an academic award in Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 1996. In 1998 Mayank took his first database course with Dr. S. Sudarshan. He went on to do his seminar and thesis in Databases in 1998 and 1999.
During his studies at Stanford University Mayank Bawa conducted a research on large scale distributed data systems as part of the Stanford Peers project. Mayank was the recipient of the Stanford Graduate Fellowship (Sequoia Capital Fellow) at Stanford University during his doctorate studies. He published a dozen or so research papers. Also Mayank Bawa set up and taught an advanced database course in 2004.
