Michimori Taira was a Lord of Echizen by title. Defeated Yukiie Minamoto in a battle at Sunomata, Mino Province (Gifu Prefecture) (March, 1181).
In August the same year, he led his troops to Echizen Province (Fukui Prefecture) in an attempt to attack Yoshinaka Kiso. Because the strength of the Kiso forces was overwhelming, he retreated to Kyoto.
After Ichinotani fell (February. 1184), Michimori fled to Minatogawa, where he was overtaken by Toshitsuna Sasaki, a retainer of Noriyori Minamoto, and was killed.
