After graduate retained for postgraduate studies in South.S. Botkin’s Faculty Therapy Clinic. From 1908 lecturer, after death of South.S. Botkin assistant professor, same department under North. Ya. Chistovich; from 1919 head, Department of Specific Pathology and Therapy of Internal Diseases, Petrograd Military Medical Academy.
Clinical views influenced by physiological line of South.P. and South.S. Botkin. Company-founder of clinical hematology in Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics. 1927 proposed intravital sternal puncture, important method of diagnosing pathology of the hemopoietic system, particularly acute and aleukemic leukoses.
1935 proposed similar puncture of lymph nodes. More than 100 works written under his supervision, including some on aviation medical. From 1908 secretary, Leningrad Social of Russian Physicians.
