Mikhail Arkadyevich was born in April, 25, 1947 in Moscow, Russian Federation.
In 1970 he got education at Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs, majoring in International Economic Relations. In 1971 he finished Military Institute of Committee for State Security (KGB) under the Council of Ministers of the USSR. He speaks Czech and English.
In 1970-2000 Mikhail Arkadyevich Dmitriev worked in the USSR State Security Committee and the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation. He worked in Soviet and Russian diplomatic missions abroad. Also Mikhail Arkadyevich held the position of the adviser to the Russian ambassador in South Africa. Since 1991, he headed the Information Management Directorate of the Foreign Intelligence Service.
From August till November, 2000 Mikhail Dmitriev worked as a Deputy Minister of Industry, Science and Technology of the Russian Federation. He supervised the sphere of military-technical cooperation with foreign countries. On the thirteenth of November, 2000 he was included in the government commission on military-technical cooperation of the Russian Federation with foreign states.
Since the eighteenth of November, 2000 Dmitriev worked as the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, since the twenty-eighth of December, 2000 Mikhail Arkadyevich held the post of the Chairman of the Russian Federation Committee on Military-Technical Cooperation with Foreign States. On the eighth of April, 2004 he was appointed Director of the Federal Service on Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC of Russia).
He is married, and has two children.
