Mikhail Fedorovich graduated from the Law Faculty of Kharkov University (1867).
Mikhail Fedorovich held various judicial positions in the city of Ostrogozhsk, Voronezh Oblast, Russia (1867-1879), Kiev, and Uman. He was engaged in bibliography of Ukrainian publications on literature and art criticism, published folklore texts. Mikhail Fedorovich translated into Ukrainian the works of Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol, Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev, Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoy, Vladimir Galaktionovich Korolenko and others.
