Mikhail Leontyevich Reznikov was born on December 31, 1929 in Vinnitsa. In 1941, together with his family, Mikhail Reznikov evacuated. In 1943 he returned to Vinnitsa, then moved to Lviv.

A year after moving to Lviv, Mikhail became a leading player of the team, since 1947 - he played for the national team of Lviv among adults. In 1947, as a part of team of Lviv DSO "Spartak" Mikhail Reznikov won in zonal competitions of the Ukrainian SSR championship.
In 1949, while serving in the army, Mikhail Leontyevich became a player of the basketball team of the District Officers' House of the Carpathian Military District. From 1949 to 1966, he was engaged in the organization of basketball and handball teams in the sports club of the army of this district. Since 1950, Mikhail Leontyevich has trained basketball and hand ball teams, as well as supervised the volleyball and football teams of SKA (Lviv). In 1966-1974 Mikhail Leontyevich served in the Southern Group of Forces of the Warsaw Pact, which was deployed mainly in Hungary. Here for 10 years he worked as a basketball coach of the sports club of the Southern Group of Forces, and later as the head of physical training of this group.
In 1971 he was sent to prepare the basketball team of Moldova for the Spartakiad of Peoples of the USSR.
In 1974, Mikhail Reznikov received a flattering offer to become a secretary of the sports committee of the Moscow Military District. In this position, Mikhail Leontyevich managed the recruitment of the sports companies and military clubs of the district, including CSKA teams up to 1987. Reznikov achieved that all leading athletes going to serve in the army were sent to the sports center of the Moscow Military District and CSKA.
In the late 70's and early 80's the fate of Mikhail Reznikov took a new turn. Vadim Kapranov invited him to take part in the creation of CSKA women's basketball team.
In 1987 Mikhail Leontyevich moved to the position of deputy chief, and a year later became head of the Universal Sports Hall CSKA. At the same time, he oversaw CSKA football team.
In 1989, Mikhail Leontyevich became chairman of Moscow Basketball Federation. In 1992, Mikhail Reznikov was elected the first president of the newly created basketball club CSKA.
In February 1996, Mikhail Leontievich left CSKA for health reasons and after a while became vice-president, an adviser of the basketball club Dynamo, which took second place in the Super League during this period, having won the right to participate in the European Cup.
