Mir Iosifovich graduated from the Podolsk Artillery School in 1942 and until the end of November of 1943, he served in the armed forces as a commander of a cannon platoon of 1499 antitank battalion. Mir Iosifovich entered Leningrad Planning Institute in 1944, and in 1947, he started postgraduate education.
After completing his postgraduate studies and defending his Ph.D. thesis, Mir Iosifovich worked as an engineer, group leader in the Leningrad branch of the Institute "Hydroenergoproject" (1951-1953). In 1953, Mir Iosifovich moved to Samara, where he worked at the Kujbyshev Planning Institute (later Samara Institute of Economics, Samara State Economic Academy) as an assistant, senior teacher, then an associate professor of the Department of Industrial Economics. In 1973 he became the head of the department of industrial economics, in 1984 – professor of the department. Since 1990, Professor Mir Iosifovich left the position of the head of the department, remaining its professor.
Mir Iosifovich devoted his many years of creative activity to the improvement of the educational process for the training of highly qualified specialists in a broad field of industrial economics. In 1996, in the structure of the Samara State Economic Academy, he created and headed the educational-methodical and scientific-innovative Center for Investment Economics.
