In 1946-1950 Iosif Semenovich was an assistant of the Department of High Mathematics of Odessa Hydrometeorological Institute. Since 1950, associate professor, head of the department of higher mathematics at Vladivostok Naval College. Since 1954, associate professor, head of the department of higher mathematics of Odessa Civil Engineering Institute. Since 1967, Professor of the Department of Partial Differential Equations and Probability Theory, since 1968 Professor of the Department of Mathematical Analysis of Voronezh State University.
Author of more than 40 works on geometry of Hilbert and Banach spaces with indefinite metric, spectral theory of linear operators in these spaces, higher algebra.
