Career
Mitsuo Tanaka served as a teacher of elementary schools, passed the Diplomatic Examination (1932).
He became a diplomatic student secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1933), assigned to America. Appointed Third Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in China and concurrently Consul at Shanghai (1940). Appointed Consul at Peking (1943) and Consul at Tientsin (1944). Appointed director of the Overseas Office at San Francisco (1952) and then Consul General there. Appointed director of the Information and Cultural Bureau of the ministry (1954), and Consul General at New York (March 1957).
