Yuasa Mitsutomo was born in Fukui Prefecture in 1909.
Graduated from Tokyo University (1932).
Entered the Army Science Research Institute and became professor of the Army Cadet School (1936), and concurrently technician of the Army Meteorological Department (1938). Entered the Central Meteorological Observatory (1945), and for five years since 1949, served as chief of the Measurement Instrument Section of the same observatory. Became professor of Kobe University (1954).
During the above period, received the prize of Minister of War for "Study of Radio Zonde" (1941), the prize of Ministry of Transportation (1954) for "Study of Meteorological Observation Facilities." At the same time, he studied the history of scientific culture, and received the Mainichi Publication Cultural Prize (1950) for "Explanatory Scientific Culture Chronology," and then again the Mainichi Publication Cultural Prize (1954) for "Famous Books on Natural Science."
