Mridula studied at Shri Guru Gobind Singh College in Chandigarh, India. In 1977 he received a degree of the Bachelor of Science. In four years he studied at Strathclyde University in Glasgow, United Kingdom. He became a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with honors. In 1983 Mridula received a degree of the Master of Science in the sphere of Analytical Chemistry. In 1986 Mridula became a Doctor of Philosophy.
Mridula worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Strathclyde University from 1986 to 1987. In this year he worked in Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, United Kingdom. She worked there for two years. Since 1989 Mridula worked at Strathclyde University in Glasgow, United Kingdom. He worked until 1991.
Since 1991 he worked in the Medical Research Council Dunn Nutrition Unit in Cambridge, United Kingdom. Mridula worked there for two years. In 1993 he became a research officer at the University of Ulster in Coleraine, Northern Ireland. He held this position until 1996.
