Narinori no Fujiwara was born in 1135. He was the third son of Michinori.

He was promoted to Lieutenant General of the Left Guard in 1159. Involved in the civil war of the Heiji Era in 1159, he was exiled to Shimotsuke (Tochigi Prefecture). He was called back to Kyoto in 1160 and appointed Minister of Mimbusho (Ministry in charge of census and taxation). He called himself Sakuramachi Chunagon.
His daughter was Kogo-no-Tsubone, who was greatly favored by Emperor Takakura.
