Since 1962 Neite Werner was a scientific collaborator and librarian for the Cologne Historical Museum. Previously the photo historian worked as a teacher and librarian (1955-1962).
Neite Werner belonged to the European Society for the History of Photography (since 1978), DGPh (since 1974), and Maximilian-Gesellschaft (since 1971).
