The 8th Guards Separate Anti-Tank Artillery Brigade (40th Army, 1st Ukrainian Front) under the command of the Guard Colonel Nikifor Chevola distinguished himself in battles on January 25, 1944, in the village of Tsibulev, now an urban-type settlement of the Monastery of the Cherkasy region of Ukraine. The brigade restrained the onslaught of the enemy during the day, destroying 342 tanks, 76 armored personnel carriers, and 62 enemy guns.
