Nikolai Dmitrievich Praslov was a historian, archeologist and Doctor of historical sciences (2001). He was the initiator of the active introduction of natural science methods in the study of archaeological sources.

Nikolai Dmitrievich graduated from the Faculty of History and Philology of Voronezh State University in 1959.

Career

Since 1959, Nikolai Dmitrievich Praslov was a researcher at the Institute of the History of Material Culture of the USSR Academy of Sciences (Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg)). In the years 1976-1994, he headed the Kostenkovo archaeological expedition of the Leningrad department of the Institute of Archeology of the USSR Academy of Sciences (since 1992, the Institute of the History of Material Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences).

His works: Paleolithic basin of the Dnieper and Azov (Moscow-Leningrad, 1964); Paleolithic basin of the Don (St. Petersburg, 2001).
